Matthew Johnson

8+ years. Three sides of the ecosystem. One through line: making partner ecosystems work.

I have always learned by seeing things from every angle. That is what drove my career from agency to publisher to platform, not a conventional climb, but a deliberate effort to understand how the same ecosystem works from every seat at the table. At GroupM I negotiated master agreements with major publishing partners; at Vox I built the connective tissue between Sales, Product, and Creative for enterprise accounts; at Amazon I managed tiered client relationships and drove adoption across a $100M+ book of business. The same instinct took me to Tokyo in 2025 to found a company from scratch, securing partnerships with language schools and local vendors in a market I was still learning.

That curiosity is also where my interest in building comes from. Over the past year I have used AI tools daily to prototype ideas on my own time: a brand kit builder and companion web app for local businesses, a React Native iOS app with real-time object tracking and identification, several landing pages for consulting concepts, and a Shopify e-commerce dropshipping store I launched recently. I am not an engineer, but I build because I want to understand what Bubble's users experience when they take an idea from prompt to product. Bubble's mission to empower everyone to create software resonates with how I have always worked: grow the ecosystem, measure what matters, and build the process when none exists yet.

I've been described as having a unique ability to see around corners. It captures how I work, thinking several moves ahead while still pushing projects forward.

I'm at my best running partner relationships and QBRs with senior stakeholders: translating health data into action without losing the relationship nuance. I'm equally comfortable as a cross-functional operator sitting between Sales, Product, and Ops when no playbook exists yet. I build the process, frameworks, and feedback loops that drive partner activity and deployment velocity, not vanity metrics.
